Google Adsense: Your Content Better Not Suck

I wanted to take a few minutes and write to you about something that is vitally important in building websites with Google Adsense for fun and profit.

Im sure that youve heard this before, but Im going to beat a dead horse right now, because its really, REALLY important to understand, and newbies and even experienced people STILL dont get it (or maybe want to get it).

Let me shout this from the rooftops, so all will hear it…

Without good content, your venture into Google Adsense, and getting any kind of profits from Adsense is going to be tough, tough tough.

In fact, Id say that it was almost impossible to generate any long term profits without good, solid content of some kind on your website.

Content is something that you simply cant ignore, and it’s a crime above crime if you do. Search engines love content and depend on it to kick back quality content results to its end users, people like you and me, or that guy who’s looking for what you’ve got to give him, whether it’s actual products, a service or just a Google Adsense ad.

Without good content for search engines to use and direct people to you, your website will never be found by anyone. In short, without content, your isolation from your end user is pratically guaranteed.

In case you haven’t gotten it about the importance of content, let me one more thing. The big search engines, in many cases, even check your page for content and relevancy when you buy pay-per-click traffic. And without relevant content, they won’t accept your ad.

So guess what? You need to be relevant, and you need some content to be relevant with.

Then there the problem with Google Adsense dropping advertisements into your site that have nothing to do with your site. I’ll talk about PSAs (Public Service Ads), and how to avoid these no-paying ads in another message soon.

Readers love content, and will go out of their way to find good things to read in the subjects they care about. And if you provide them good content, they’ll come looking again for you.

Without good content that people will come back to again and again, youll be a one shot website, and people wont come back.

Ive seen different webmasters and builders use specialized programs for page building. These programs build what is commonly called scraper sites. These sites take info from other web pages, and assimilate keyword-rich pages that supposedly will rank high on search engines. Granted these pages are total nonsense, and while they generate huge traffic from their high rankings, they usually dont stay around long.

This scraper strategy may work for a while, but eventually search engines like Google will find out, and penalize your site.

Many sites are using programs that generate content. But people know what those sites are about the minute your page opens up on their browser. And once again, the search engines may very well pick up on the fact that youre using artificial means to generate pages on your site, and ban you. Its not worth it.

So you ask: how do I find relevant info to use in my site?

1. Explore Other Sites

No, dont steal articles word for word from other places. But ideas for stories? Thats a different story (literally).

As Solomon said the Bible, theres nothing new under the sun. But theres always a new slant on content, and youre a good brainstorm away from finding it.

Use your head. Check out what others are doing on their sites, and then combine the things you like in their content and ideas to make your content sing.

Be objective when looking other peoples content. If something grabs you, ask yourself why? Ask yourself why that angle of idea appealed to you when you came across it? And when you visit each site, ask yourself as you leave, why would I come back to this site?

2. Remember: The News Of The World and Your Adsense Site Are Connected.

If youre maintaining an Adsense-oriented site, you need to be a mini-expert on your niche. That means reading material from others, and seeing how they can affect your Google Adsense site. You may think Im repeating what I said above. Im not. Im talking about being personally involved in your content.

In your niche, affected by the winds of change, fickle buyers and surfers, and the ever changing landscape of the world and the web are sub niches. By keeping even the slightest tabs on your niche, you can align it to happenings outside of your niche that will affect your niche itself.

Example: One of the heavy keywords that came up this week when I was putting together my Top 500 Google Adsense Keyword List (available every two weeks for free, by the way, from http://axalda.info/topkeywords.html) was cheap student airline tickets. Of course, people always want to travel cheap, but why students?

Because its Spring Break, and kids are looking to spend Mom’s and Dad’s money for two weeks. If I had a niche, that I could have tied that information into a page on my travel or vacation website, Id probably do very well in Adsense.

3. Read Magazines

Read a book or two. In many cases, magazines dont follow trendsthey make them. If you can get your hands on a publication or two that covers aspects of your niche, plunk down a buck or two, and get inspired.

There are a lot more ideas about how top get good content. Use your head, and fix it on your niche. Remember, like I said, youre only one good brainstorm away from Adsense gold.

Till Next Time, Keep Building!

Google Adsense – The Easiest Way To Make Money Online

Google Adsense – The Easiest Way To Make Money Online

Do you know that the easiest way to make money online now is to use Google Adsense? Google Adsense is like a pay-per-click advertising avenue, only that the generated pay-per-click revenue goes to you for putting up the Google Adsense Ads on your website pages.

For the last couple of months, Google Adsense has dominated forums, discussions and newsletters all over the Internet. Already, there are tales of fabulous riches to be made and millions made by those who are just working from home. It seems that Google Adsense have already dominated the internet marketing business and is now considered the easiest way to make money online.

The key to success to make money with Google Adsense is the placing of ads on pages that are receiving high traffic for high demand keywords. The higher the cost-per-click to the advertiser, the more you will receive per click from your site. Obviously, it does not pay to target low cost-per-click keywords and place them on pages that do not receive hits.

With all the people getting online and clicking away everyday, it is no wonder why Google Adsense has become an instant hit.

For some who are just new to this market, it would be a blow to their pride knowing that their homepage is buried somewhere in the little ads promoting other peoples services. But then, when they get the idea that they are actually earning more money that way, all doubts and skepticism is laid to rest.

There are two major, and clever, factors that some successful webmaster and publishers are learning to blend together in order to make money easier using Adsense.

1. Targeting high traffic pages on your website. If you check on your logs, you will discover that many of your visitors are taking advantage of the free affiliate marketing resources and ebooks that you are offering on your site. In simple words, your ads are working effectively and are generating more clicks. It also means more money for you.

2. Placing Adsense links on pages that are producing little, or better yet, no profit. By placing Adsense on a free resources page, you will reduce the amount of potential customers being lost to other sites. Tricky, but effective nonetheless.

When learned to work effectively, these two factors are actually a good source of producing a minimal amount of revenue from a high traffic page. Many people are using this strategy to pick up some extra and cash with Adsense. This is also especially rewarding to informational sites that focus their efforts on delivering powerful affiliate link free content to their visitors. Now they can gain a monetary return on their services.

With the many techniques that people are now learning on how to make the easiest money by their Adsense, it is not surprising that Google is trying everything to update and polish their Adsense in order to maintain their good image.

The possibility of adding is 2nd tier in Adsense is not impossible. With all the people spending more time in their Adsense now and still more getting into this line of marketing, there is no doubt about the many new improvements yet to be made. Imagine the smiles on the faces of the webmasters and publishers all around the world if ever they sign up for sub-affiliates and double or even triple the amount that they are already earning.

The one particularly handy money-making feature that is available with Adsense now is the ability to filter out up to 200 urls. These gives webmasters the option to block out low value offers from their pages as well as competitors to their websites. Talk about taking only those that are advantageous and discarding the ones that seem useless.

With Google Adsense, the possibilities are limitless. Yet there is also the possibility of someone taking advantage of the easy money process that this internet marketing is doing. If you think more about it, these negative factors may force Google to break down and thrash Adsense in the process. If that happens, people would have to go back to the old ways of internet marketing that does not make money online as easy as Adsense.

For now, however, Google Adsense is here to stay. As long as there are people wanting to earn some easy cash online just using their talents, the future ahead is looking good. Besides with all the strict guidelines that Google is enforcing over Adsense, it will take awhile for the Adsense privileges to be spammed and even terminated.

How Formatting And Color Schemes Can Make Or Break Your

How Formatting And Color Schemes Can Make Or Break Your Click Count!

With Google adsense even the slightest adjustment on your website can make a world of a difference. Adsense requires little effort at all on your part, but the changes you can control can vary the amount of clicks you receive. That is why the formatting and colors you use for the ad will allow you to collect a higher income and raise your adsense revenue.

When placing the Google adsense it is crucial you place it directly in the heart of your content. You want the ad to be noticed but at the same time not take away from the content on your website. You want the adsense to compliment your content, not BE your content. Square and wide rectangular ads tend to fair the best and receive the most clicks for people.

You want to place your adsense above the main fold to maximize your clicks. The higher up on the page your ads are the more likely people will click on them. This is because not everyone reads all the content on your website, but by putting your adsense towards the top it is one of the first things they see.

Placing objects around the ads are a sure way to increase your adsense revenue as well. If you place images next to or above, the ads the images will draw the readers eyes towards your ads with more potential for people to click on them. You do not want to place too many images as this will drop the quality of your page, but placing one or two images will look professional and serve its purpose at the same time.

When adjusting the background color and border color of your google adsense box, you dont want to make it stand out from the rest of the page. Have the background and border colors be very similar, if not the same color, as the background of your webpage itself. The color of the ad link URL should always be a lighter shade than that of the text. If the text is black then make your adlink a light gray shade. All in all your goal is to make the adsense have the same color scheme as your website has to help it blend in as oppose to looking like an ad that stands out.

It is important that you pay attention to the formatting of your Google adsense and maybe even adjust it from time to time. Make sure to keep records of how you fair as far as clicks go if you do make an adjustment. Testing will help you find what works best for your website. While it may seem like a very little adjustment on your webpage, it will ultimately determine how many clicks you receive. The formatting and color schemes you use are a vital aspect towards your success with adsense.

Google Ad Scheduling

Finally! Google has introduced Ad scheduling for AdWords. This new system allows advertisers to choose when ads should appear, and how much each ad should cost.

To access the dayparting features in Adwords, just edit your campaign settings. Click on “Turn on ad scheduling”. You will have to specify a time zone if you have not already done so. Now you can specify the time periods your ads will appear. For example, if your B2B customers are located in the U.S. and Japan, you can specify that your ads only be shown during business hours in those areas. If you are directly targeting consumers, and you know that your customers are more likely to buy during the usual “after dinner” hours, you can specify that your ads only be shown during this time. There is also the control of adding several day parts within each day.

To make life easier, you can also do a “bulk edit”. This means you can specify hours of the day, and apply them to every day of the week. The default setting is to have all the ads on all the time.

You have even more control when switching to advanced mode for Ad Scheduling. You can specify how much you want to pay for each ad. If you know that your customers buy more during the hours of 9-5pm, you can up your bid to 130%, for example. If your normal max bid is $1.00, then during the specified hours, your max bid becomes $1.30. After the time period ends, your max bid reverts back to $1.00. During low-conversion hours you can pay less for an ad – just specify a lower bid percentage.

Bear in mind, however, that the time of day on which all this is based is your time zone. Your ads will appear within the time frames you specify in your own time zone. Make sure you allow for different time zones when specifying your ad scheduling. If you are in EST, allow 3 extra hours for those in PST.

According to Google, Ad scheduling will not generally affect your budget. Remember, however, that there is the risk that Google may not be able to spend all of your budget if you specify too narrow a time frame, or too low a bid price.

Of course, maximizing the power of ad scheduling will require some testing. Check your analytics program for the best conversion times, and see what happens when you raise or lower your bid prices. Remember, however, that sometimes customers may require some time before they actually buy something. A customer who finds your site on their lunch break may not be purchasing until after dinnertime at home. It will require some analysis before you can be sure that you are getting the most out of Adwords ad scheduling.

All in all, Ad scheduling for AdWords is a feature that has the potential to really improve the efficiency of your ad spend, if you are willing to put in the time. Google dayparting is a feature that has been long in coming.

Big Brother or Cash Cow?

When I first started my main website many years ago, little did I know the major role Google would play in its success. Keep in mind, Google has only been around the web since 1998. In the beginning, few realized the small search engine created by Stanford students Larry Page and Sergey Brin, would become a multi-billion dollar company controlling almost all areas of the web.

Google seems destined to dominate the web (aka Shades of Big Brother) for years to come… keeping a close eye on all our Internet activity with large databases tracking our every (abiet aggregate) move. Since privacy has become an antiqued and obsolete word in our ever increasing public world, this can be very disconcerting. And it is not just the web, Google is branching out in so many directions, it will play a major role in our daily lives off-line as well as online.

Regardless of whether you love or hate Google, you must not ignore the importance it will play in the success of your website or sites. As a webmaster you must take full advantage of what Google offers or face an uphill battle. As an online marketer it would be just as unwise not to explore all avenues of this gentle giant.

Years ago, I joined the Google Adsense program where webmasters place the targeted Adsense advertising code on their webpages in order to receive a small share of the advertising revenue. It changed forever how I viewed Google.

As a struggling webmaster and marketer, I have to admit, receiving those Monthly commission checks from Google was a Godsend. They still are. Acquiring a high PageRank and receiving all that free targeted Google traffic is an even greater Godsend. It has put my sites in the black and keeps them producing revenue, month after month.

Google presents a legitimate way of monetising your site or sites. It gives you a monthly cash flow that covers your hosting fees and provides you with a monthly income from your sites. It can be a great starting point for anyone wishing to earn an online income. Google must be explored and utilized to give you this monthly income.

Regular readers will know I like to keep things simple, as simple as possible.

So lets put to one side the very complicated and risky endeavor of using Google Adwords advertising to bring targeted traffic to your site for this usually takes some training and skill to get right. In other words, you have to know exactly what you’re doing or you may lose a lot of money. However, if you want to learn more about this advanced Google profit system, the best resource is still Chris Carpenter’s Google Cash.

But for now, lets keep things real simple. I always take the simplest route where possible.

Google Cash File

I keep a very popular page on my site called Google Cash File – it explains my simple methods of working Google to bring in a monthly income. Just simple steps you can take to earn money from Google. You can find the link to this Google page in the Resource Box below. Granted, you can spend money on info products and software but you don’t have to – I started with all free information and worked my way up. As I earned more income, I invested some of it in good software like Brad Callen’s Keyword Elite… but again, you can use all free programs and resources to earn money from Google.

Here are four revenue sources from Google that I use:

Google Adsense
I use Google Adsense code on all my webpages… visitors click on these targeted Adsense ads and I earn a small percentage of the ad revenue.

I also earn by marketing three Google Referral Products through the Adsense program:

Adsense Referral
I get $100 for each referral I make to Google, as long as that referral joins Adsense and earns at least $100.

Google Firefox Bar
I earn $1 for each referral that downloads the Firefox Browser and then uses the Google Search Bar. Might not sound like much, but this quickly adds up.

Adwords Referral
Google will pay me $20 for each Adwords referral that spends $100 on Adwords advertising within 90 days. Another good revenue stream.

If you have a popular site and promote these three Google referral products along with the Adsense code, you will be surprised at how much extra income you can earn each month. Granted, Google is no way as generous as most of my other affiliate programs I promote with my sites but Google is an Easy Sell! People trust Google, people respect Google, but more importantly – people like using anything Google. This factor simply means more money for you if you take full advantage of Google’s referral products.

In the resource box below you will find a link to a page where I have listed all the techniques and methods I use to put Google products on my pages to earn that monthly income. Again, these are very simple steps you can take to make Google pay you each month… so what’s keeping you from turning that Big Brother into a wealthy Uncle (aka Cash Cow) who sends you a generous allowance each month. It doesn’t get any easier than this.

Good Copywriting Broken Down To Steps

It may be the most lucrative job and business right now – trying to write ads from scratch that would make your audience to sit up and take attention. And it is actually not impossible. But it sure feels like it most of the time.

So whats the big secret from those who can do it? Its all in the steps you make. To write effective copy, whether its for your full color brochures and marketing brochures and color postcards, the big secret is to do it one step at a time.

Step 1: Questions first; answers later when youre writing your sales copy.

You need to ask yourself four questions before you could go on with your sales ad copy: who are your target audience? How can you confirm your information? What will make them ignore your call? What is your call to action and your promise?

When youre ready with your answers, then start writing your ad.

Step 2: Make a list of all your products features and check them twice. The more features you have, the better you can describe fully your products best qualities.

Step 3: Also make a list of the benefits for every feature try to come up with as many benefits as you can.

Step 4: Its all in the formula.

For every success theres always a formula. Two of the popular formulas in copy writing are AIDA (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action) and PAS (Problem, Agitate, Solution). If you can create your own, the better.

Step 5: Develop a headline with a punch.

You can always get inspiration from other full color brochures and marketing brochures and color postcards. Every time you read something you like, write it down. When youre in front of your sales ad copy, try to put your own details in place of whats already written. Then you can use that for your headline to impress your target audience.

Step 6: Just write it!

The best strategy I believe is to just write it. Anything that comes to your mind, just fire away! If you let your imagination flow, youll most likely get a lot of inspiration for your sales copy. In fact, the more you let your emotions flow, the less likely that youll sound like anybody but yourself. The best thing is that youll be able to come up with your sales copy while customizing it to your own needs and requirements.

Goals For Word of Mouth Marketing Methods

Haven’t you heard that word of mouth marketing methods work? In fact, according to research, well over 75% of the most effective methods of marketers actually use word of mouth marketing, which, for the purposes of this article I shall refer to as WOM.

So, you want to start a WOM campaign. The first thing you need to do is to have a goal for your WOM campaign. I can immediately think of a few reasons why you might want to do this:

#1 – Generate leads. This is probably easy to do if you have a few bonus products in hand. Giving free things away to people definitely will encourage them to think of a few people whom you can can refer to you for the same thing.

All you need to do is get an autoresponder message set up so that they can forward you the email addresses of the people they’d like you to contact.

#2 – Generate affiliates. Okay, this one is a little easier, but you will have to educate the affiliates you build. WOM for affiliate marketing is great because now you have an army of people who are incentivized to market on your behalf.

#3 – Convert into sales. For this to happen, you definitely need to create a lot of testimonials in order to create the buzz. This approach will then get other people talking about the quality and the level of "must-haveness" of the product you are promoting.

#4 – Build credibility. This approach will help solidify your brand in the long run, so you will most likely have to have points of proof that people will talk about and associate with you. This article, for instance is a way to generate credibility because you are reading it in the first place!

#5 – Retain current subscribers. Few people would have heard of this, but sometimes, your current list of subscribers need perks to keep them ‘alive’ and warm. Send them freebies or get a campaign going to increase the buzz amongst them. I have monthly events where different people actually get together and meet each other and chat so that they know who’s who instead of a nickname in a forum. This keeps people from opting out of your mailing list!

#6 – Warm up for a product launch. When you want to do a product launch, you will want to ensure that people are ready for you. How can you do this? Well, all it takes is to create more buzz. Warming people on a list also takes time, but the sequence in which you do it is important. With this goal in mind, you can already think of some ways to get your list of people excited, talking to each other and involving themselves in a discussion.

Once your goal is clear enough for you, it will be far easier to keep track of your results. After all, without a clear direction, you won’t know how far you need to go, or what you are aiming for in the first place.

I’ve created an initial list of Word of Mouth Marketing Methods that you can find on my internet marketing blog. So far, it lists 20, but I’ll be working to enhance it to around 101 or beyond. The marketing methods themselves are not as important as the way in which you use them.

Goals, Plans and Actions & The Future of Marketing

I read a quote once:
Its not a tragedy not to achieve a goal its a tragedy not to have that goal to achieve!
How many people wonder through life, without any aim or purpose, just passing the days? How many people with the best of intentions set a goal and go about trying to achieve it, and just because of an issue, they give up on the goal, then they fall into the aimless category?

How many people are just plain stubborn like time just go on and on to achieve their goal but dont because they didnt realise all that was hindering their success was a minor issue that could have been resolved if help had been sought!

To succeed in anything you need to have the right mindset, planning and action are simply not enough. You need a positive attitude, accept that you will make mistakes, accept that it wont happen by tomorrow and most importantly be willing to listen and learn (ask for help dont be afraid).

Whatever your goals are, at some point along the way it will involve money whether your goal is to be the next Bill Gates or Warren Buffet or simply to help the helpless you still need money (via profit or donation). Ive come across a straightforward and simple method of helping to achieve that goal, they are profiting from Internet Marketing. How many people use the internet now? Its not small is it? Lets face its only going to grow with increasing use in emerging markets like China and India (I was in India last year there is hardly any internet use I felt lost without my buddy the internet!

These days, companies are looking for better methods they can relay their messages to potential consumers so as to reduce advertising costs and increase customer acquisition (and later retention).
There are 3 ways that messages can be relayed at minimal or no cost.
1. Face to Face Direct Marketing visiting potential customers at their place of residence (check local law to see if this allowed where you reside)
2. Internet Marketing having even a basic website that has some traffic coming to it is better than having no website there is more chance of attracting/retaining customers.
3. Word of Mouth/Email Have you ever told someone about a product or service that youve had a good experience with? Whether you do it by telling someone or emailing them, its a recommendation from a positive experience.
As advertising budgets decrease and competition increase the use of the above methods of marketing are simply put the way forward.

What about me? There are many ways for you to market online, you can market other peoples products (be an affiliate). You could even create your own product or service (maybe you already have one). The first thing to have a basic website; best of all you dont need to hire anyone – these techniques can be learnt for little or no cost.

I came across a course that taught me to build my own website in under a week I learnt what I thought would take at least a year at college. There are various things on this course that interested me; Im not going to get into the exact content the BEST thing for me was that everything was SHOWN to me step by step. Im sure youll agree thats the best way for people to learn something new.

If you want to open more doors in terms of potential income and satisfaction then Internet Marketing might just be your ticket!

Getting Started With Google Adsense

It’s probably one of the hottest topics out there, and with good reason. Where else can you get paid over and over again for doing something once?

Of course I’m talking about Googles Adsense program, for website publishers who don’t mind placing a small bit of code into their sites to show ads in return for a share of the profits.

It’s relatively easy to get started with Google Adsense, as all you need to have is a website or blog on which to show the Adsense ads, and a Google Adsense Publishers Account. To get an Adsense account you need to go to www.Google.com/adsense and apply for an account, as long as your website complies with their terms, you will be accepted and be able to log in to create your Adsense ads. If you don’t have a website, you can setup a blog for fr.ee at http://www.blogger.com put up some content, and submit this. Blogger is also owned by Google, and some people claim this gives you a better chance of acceptance, whether it does or not you decide for yourself.

For the next part, once you are logged in you need to choose what type of ads to display, link units are just one line links to sites related to your sites keywords, ad units are the blocks of code you see everywhere with a short description, a link and a url for each site advertised. Once you have chosen which ad type to display, you can then choose the size and format of the Adsense box. This is where you must make a decision to ensure it fits in with your site, where you are going to place it.

Be aware that irregular sized and shaped adsense boxes work better than the regular ad sizes, 468×60 is immediately picked up as an ad due to banners being this size for so long online and has a low clickrate, while the 336×280 and 300×250 adsense blocks work much better. There is also some arguments as to whether you should blend the ad into your site by using the color palette Adsense gives you to edit the ads colours to make the colours the same as your site, or to make them stand out by making them a different colour, this will depend on your site, and you can test to see what works best.

After you have setup the format, colour scheme and type of ad, you will get the code to add to your site. Before you go ahead and paste it in, it’s a good idea to setup channel tracking. Setup different channels named so that you will know what it is about, and this will enable you to track which ads are working, on which sites by changing them around, and tagging them with different channel ID’s. This is one of the most overlooked parts of Adsense, the ability to track your ads through channels affords you the ability to test and tune to get the ideal colours, and placement for your adsense blocks.

Adsense does a good job of finding ads related to your site, and you have no input into what will be shown. Sometimes it gets confused, so you may have to tweak your sites copy to make the keywords more prominent so Adsense can do a better job of targeting your visitors with the ads displayed. Obviously the better the ads target your visitors, the more relevant they will be and the better the clickthrough rate.

As we already said, Adsense is a great way to make some income, and some people are even making a good living from it, it’s residual income, fairly easy to setup and low maintenance. If nothing else it will help pay the hosting fees for your website, so why not get started with Google Adsense today?
